| Rachael Waller: Filmmaker-Documentarian-Photographer Rachael Waller specializes in Equestrian Fine Art Photography and believes that all horses deserve to be the subject of fine art photography from high end champions to beloved family horses & rescue babies. Her work has appeared in various Fine Art books and magazines. She earned her BFA (2002) and MFA (2004) in film from the world renowned California Institute of the Arts where she studied under some of the great masters of light, cinematography, documentary film, and photography. Her international award-winning photography has been noted for its very organic approach loaded with heart & personality and a horses true soul. “Horses are an amazing source of strength, endurance, and passion. They will give us so much based on trust. My work relies on this trust whether I am with a herd or a single horse. Many of my subjects are rescued horses who are given a second chance at life and can therefore be very unpredictable …to be a part of this blooming process as I witness their becoming whole again is a visual treasure that articulates volumes. Communing with horses in the evening to capture the intricate balance of power and light is my heartbeat. My work enables me to sculpt available light while watching the unfolding dance of the equine.” December 2007 Browning Farms asked Rachael to be their official photographer. Home of two time dressage and Grand Prix horse of the year Floriano. Browning Farms is also home to stallion and Oldenburg Horse of the Year - Third Level "San Rubin" owned by Stephen Browning II. Rachael is proud to be"Flori's" personal photographer. "Flori is a wonderful horse loaded with such personality he is a joy to work with he really is quite a character! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to create fine art & artful documentary pieces for The Browning's of both Floriano and the equally stunning stallion San Rubin among many others. Our goal is to capture these champions in at liberty moments and under saddle to show the world the wonderful life they lead at home via fine art photography. There is nothing like a hot cup of coffee and hanging out in the barn with Flori, as long as I have some cookies for him, Flori is a very special horse." Rachael's work hangs in galleries and private collections all over the world. She is known for her unique angles and attention to her subject matter as she focuses on each horse’s personality and soul - “When I capture that one moment I know it. It may be as simple as the horse turning to look at me, but when that flash of an instant reaches out and seizes me, I know I just received a precious gift and I am grateful to my subject for generously sharing a brief view into the window of its soul. I am simply grateful to all the horses I photograph for showing me secret places within them. It is a great honor for me to photograph such precious beings.” In 2006 Rachael did her first equestrian fine art calendar "The Essence of Being Equine" and donated the profits to her favorite equine charities. With over twenty years of professional experience in the film, entertainment, and literary fields- Rachael's experience and expertise include: all aspects of film production, coordination for film, music and art festivals, and consulting for film and television companies.
